Senft-Freitag Pottery (1881-1928)

In 1881, the potter Karl Senf acquires an estate on the church square next to the Latin school, today's Pottery Museum, and founds a pottery. His daughter marries the potter Johann Freitag from Hollfeld. When the latter died in 1928 from the consequences of wartime suffering, his only son had been killed in the war, the pottery business closed down. Even today, the building still contains a fully preserved bricked-up so-called Kassel ceramic kiln from the 19th century.

Its main products were tableware with honey yellow and dark brown transparent glaze.
