Kleinodienbuch der Herzogin Anna von Bayern - BSB Cod.icon. 429

Bayerische Staatsbibliothek

Description

On the commission of Duke Albrecht V (1528-1579), Hans Mielich (1516-1573) created this pictorial inventory. It contains, apart from a depiction of a coat of arms and of a portrait of the ducal couple playing chess, images of 71 jewels. Among these are such objects as agraffes, pendants, applications, necklaces, neck bands, but also a mounted bezoar, a small bag to be worn on the belt and a holder for a bouquet of flowers. Next to the property of Duchess Anna von Österreich (1528-1590) and of Albrecht V, heirlooms from Duke Wilhelm IV (1493-1550) and his wife Jakobaea von Baden (1507-1580) are also depicted. The jewels are rendered in the original size and in the most precious form of execution. As a rule, all precious objects are shown from the front and from the back. The manuscript was kept originally in the ducal Kunstkammer, later in the electoral Kammergallerie; only in 1843, it was donated by King Ludwig I (1786-1868) and finally arrived in the holdings of the present Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Bavarian State Library). // Datum: 2017
