Description

The manuscript can be located securely in the Augsburg bishopric by means of the mention of several local saints as well as by that of the parish fair of the Augsburg Mariendom (Augsburg Cathedral) in the calendar; it will likely have been created around 1220 in an Augsburg workshop. The rich decorative programme contains a calendar with the zodiacal signs and the labours of the months, numerous images of saints as well as scenes of the New Testament. The manuscript was acquired from an unknown source by the princes of Oettingen-Wallerstein. // Datum: 2017
